Types of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence can be broadly categorized into two main types based on their capabilities:

1. Narrow AI (Weak AI)

Narrow AI is designed to perform a specific task or a set of related tasks. It operates within a limited context and cannot generalize beyond its programming. Most AI applications today fall under this category.
Examples:

• Voice assistants like Siri or Alexa

• Recommendation systems on Netflix or Amazon

• Image recognition software

2. General AI (Strong AI)

General AI refers to a system that possesses intelligence comparable to a human being. It can understand, learn, and apply knowledge across a wide range of tasks, adapt to new situations, and perform any intellectual task that a human can do.
Currently, General AI remains theoretical and has not yet been realized.
